The Little Kicks

From Aberdeen, Scotland

The Little Kicks, an indie pop band from Scotland, shows their originality by adding influences from older artists with a modern twist. The band has four members. Steven Milne (vocals/keyboards/synths/guitars), is the oldest of the band at the age of 34. He said, “with the other members being 32 they mention this a lot.” When Steven isn’t doing music for The Little Kicks, he told us that he enjoys “a trip to the cinema, love a pint of Guinness and basically need a strong coffee and banana to function daily.” I think we all can relate to the need for strong coffee! Andrew Corse plays lead guitar and sings backing vocals for the band. Steven told us that Andrew “is known for his fine taste in clothing, enjoying a pint of Tennents and his addiction to 8Ball pool online.” Adam Morrice plays bass guitar, bass synth and backing vocals. Steven said, ” he loves playing gigs and live music, enjoys an occasional cider and I think is slowly becoming addicted to Vocalzone.” Scott Kelman “is in control of temp as he plays drums and an SPDS sampler as well as percussion.” Steven told us that Andrew “likes vintage drum kits, loves a gin and tonic, loves sushi and has a french bulldog called Ace who is very cool.” Steven said, “One shared passion is that we all support Aberdeen Football Club so on match-days the above mentioned vices and outside interests are employed appropriately dependent on the result.”

In 2009, The Little Kicks released their first record. Steven said, “We have had a couple of member changes along the way but this line up is probably formed quite naturally thanks to the fact we know each other well and have been hanging around on the music scene together in Aberdeen for a long time.” He continued, “Whether thats happened watching similar touring bands or each others previous bands I think it’s inevitable that we have found each other in this group.”

As a band, Steven told us that they “gel really well together.” He told us that they enjoy making music for The Little Kicks and “spending time on making albums that [they] can release and tour live.” He said, “I bring the songs in and we work on them together and they’ll usually be pretty well formed at that point but always open to change/collaboration.” He continued, “I feel quite lucky to have the guys to bounce the ideas off of and to work with.” Steven said, “You won’t find a better drummer than Scott and Adam and Andrew’s harmonies have been known to reduce grown men and women to tears – a powerful gift I think you will agree.”
