Frequently Asked Questions
Here you'll find quick answers to questions you might have as well as tips for using this site. If you have any additional queries then feel free to reach us via the Contact Page.
What's going on here?
8DSync provides music for use in media projects, including (but certainly not limited to) web video, television advertising, film soundtracks, and video games. We've hand-picked songs from a talented pool of artists and are able to license this music on their behalf. 8DSync uses an advanced search system to help you find music fitting your criteria or you can have us create a playlist of song suggestions for you. Many of our artists are also on hand to create custom music on request.
How do I use 8DSync?
The first thing you should do is to Create An Account with us. This way you'll have access to all the features and songs available to our registered users. Next you should play around with our advanced Search function, noting the bodacious amount of criteria that is available to help you find the perfect song for your needs. Also, feel free to explore our Artists and suggested Music to hear the diverse and top notch sounds found within our catalog.
Can you personally help me find the song I'm looking for?
We get it. You're a busy creative professional with a ton on your plate and searching through our catalog on your own isn't quite fitting the schedule. No problem … our 8DSync Concierge is ready and willing. Feel free to send us your project's brief or a description of what you're looking for and we'll get back to you pronto with a playlist of suggested songs. There's more info on our Concierge page.
Are your song licenses 'one-stop,' or do I have to also track down a master rights holder or publisher?
We have agreements with the songwriters and labels for all the music on this site and are able to give everything 'one stop' clearance. Licensing music from 8DSync is refreshingly fast and easy.
Can I obtain licenses instantly from the site?
Not at the moment, but this feature is coming very soon. In the meantime just send us a request by clicking the 'License' button next to the song you're after and we'll get back to you within a few hours, guaranteeing a speedy clearance.
How much will a license cost me?
This varies according to a number of factors such as the scope of the project (a personal web video won't warrant the same fee as a big film project, of course), the length of the license, and the territory that applies. When you ask to license a song (by pressing the 'License' button next to that song's entry) you'll be presented with a form requesting information about your project. We'll get back to you with a license quote based on these details, or we'll let you know if your offer is acceptable to us (if you make an offer). Don't be discouraged if your project needing music is small … we'll be happy to work fairly within your budget.
Can I download an MP3 of the song I'm interested in before licensing, so I can synch/spot to film to test and make sure it works?
Sure thing. If you've registered for an account and have professional credientials (given to us in the registration form) then you probably already have download access to MP3s from this site's catalog. Otherwise, contact us with a download request ... be sure to name the song you're after and give some quick detials on your project.
Can your artists create a new song just for my project?
Most certainly, and many of our songwriters savor the opportunity and challenge of quickly creating custom music according to a client's guidelines. We represent a number of producers in various genres and will match your project to the artist (or artists) who we feel can best get the job done. For more information on this aspect of our service go to 8DSync's Custom page.
Can you help me license a song that's not on your site?
If it's a song from one of our listed artists that you can't find in our catalog then it's a good possibility we'll be able to help. However, due to legal arrangements, we can only help to license tracks from artists and songwriters we represent. You can probably find information on licensing a non-8DSync artist by Googling that artist's name along with the word "licensing" or "publishing." Or if your needs are flexible and you'd be cool with a song that sounds like the artist or song you're looking for then let us know … we can probably find a great substitution for you without all the trouble and cost of licensing the original.
How can I get my music represented by 8DSync?
We're always looking for great new songs from producers and songwriters to add to our catalog. Feel free to Contact Us to let us know how to listen to examples of your tunes. Some things to note, though: you must control both the master and sync sides of your music (if you're not sure what that means then it's okay, we can figure it out), and the songs must have a high quality, radio-ready production value. Also know that we're quite picky with what we represent, but we'll get back to you regarding your submission no matter what.
