8DSync manager and main tune pusher Michael Donaldson has been professionally working with music since his first teenage job at a mall Musicland in central Louisiana. This was followed by stints in various bands, the creation of a number of short-lived record labels, and the opening of his own record shop, the seminal Bad Mood Records in Orlando, Florida. Upon meeting future business partner Gerard Mitchell in 1994, Eighth Dimension Records was formed and quickly became one of the leading American independent labels in the underground electronic music scene. Eighth Dimension Records released an eclectic and successful discography and eventually branched out into event promotion, artist management, and music licensing. Not inconsequentially, while all this was going on, Michael Donaldson recorded albums for Astralwerks/Virgin Records and toured the world under the name Q-Burns Abstract Message. He still produces new music and travels as a DJ to this day.
As licensing becomes Eighth Dimension's primary focus nearly twenty years after the label's founding, Donaldson has created 8DSync to highlight the company's extensive catalog, taste-making prowess, and licensing expertise.
